ZWO EAF

Motorised focus control for the main optical train

Original box for the ZWO EAF electronic automatic focuser

The ZWO EAF is the red motor mounted perpendicular to the optical train. It couples to the shaft of the OTA’s mechanical focuser and replaces manual adjustment, allowing the capture software to find and return to the best focus position automatically. This makes remote focusing possible and compensates for small focus shifts caused by changing temperatures during the night. It is powered directly at 5 V through its USB-C connection, without a separate power cable, while the 1:128 reduction provides very fine, repeatable movement.
