IC 2177 – Seagull Nebula
IC 2177, known as the Seagull Nebula and also cataloged as Sh2-296, is an emission nebula located on the border between the constellations of Monoceros and Canis Major. It has an apparent size of 120.0 × 40.0 arcminutes and lies about 7.5 degrees northeast of Sirius. Its apparent magnitude is +10.00 and it is located at an approximate distance of 5.9 thousand light-years.
