M31, Galàxia d'Andròmeda
Galàxia espiral barrada gegant, similar a la Via Làctia, amb braços espirals plens d’estrelles, gas i pols que alberguen joves cúmuls estel·lars, regions H II i núvols moleculars. El hal·lo estel·lar conté estrelles antigues i cúmuls globulars.
