NGC 2174 – Monkey Head Nebula
NGC 2174, popularly known as the Monkey Head Nebula, is a nebular region with an apparent size of 40.0 × 30.0 arcminutes, corresponding to an approximate physical diameter of 16 light-years. It has an apparent magnitude of +7.59 and is located about 1,400 light-years away. In the same region lies the open cluster NGC 2175, at a distance of about 5.3 thousand light-years, as well as the nebula IC 2159, associated with this complex.
