NGC4565 – Needle Galaxy
NGC4565, in the constellation Coma Berenices, is a spiral galaxy seen almost edge-on and also known as the Needle Galaxy because of its thin, elongated shape. With a visual magnitude of +9.6 and an apparent size of 15.8 × 1.9 arcminutes, it lies approximately 40 million light-years away. Its orientation clearly reveals the central bulge and the dark dust lane running along its galactic disc.
