NGC 869 and NGC 884 – Double Cluster in Perseus
NGC 869 and NGC 884 form the well-known Double Cluster in Perseus. The image is oriented with north at the top, and NGC 884 is the cluster located to the east. Both have an apparent magnitude of about +4 and an apparent size of roughly 18 arcminutes, and they are located at an approximate distance of 7.6 thousand light-years. Both clusters show a blueshift: NGC 869 is approaching Earth at about 22 km/s, and NGC 884 is approaching at a similar speed of about 21 km/s.
