VdB152 – Van den Bergh 152 Reflection Nebula

VdB152 (also known as LBN531) is a delicate reflection nebula located in the constellation Cepheus and catalogued by Sidney van den Bergh as object 152. It lies within the large dark nebula Barnard 175 (B175), itself part of a much larger molecular cloud complex including the dark nebulae LDN1217 and LDN1219. Its distinctive bluish glow is produced by the young embedded star BD+69 1231, whose light is scattered by surrounding interstellar dust. The image also reveals faint hydrogen filaments belonging to the supernova remnant SNR G110.3+11.3, together with the Herbig-Haro object HH450, a jet of gas ejected by a forming star. These objects are identified in the annotated image.
